2Terry Severson Memorial Fishing Tournament Official Rules and Regulations
Eligibility An online registration and payment (www.tsfmt.org) must be completed prior to the Rules Meeting and Calcutta on Friday event. A list of all teammates (4 contestants) with a mailing address of the team captain is also required. Contestants will agree to a release form at the checkout on the online registration. If they do not sign the waiver, they will not be allowed to leave the dock. If a contestant is under the age of 18, a parental signature is required.
Refund No refunds will be given unless there is a legitimate reason and the board members agree to issue a refund. This will be determined on a base by base case.
Safety All contestants must observe US Coast Guard regulations. “No Wake” zones must be observed.
Sportsmanship Contestants are expected to be courteous, safety conscious, and practice fundamental sporting principles. Have fun.
Tackle & Equipment Artificial or live bait may be used. Each contestant may use two (2) fishing rods.
Rules Meeting A mandatory rules meeting will be held on June 2, 2022 at the Community Building in Platte, SD. Free meal will start at 6:00 P.M. CST with rules meeting and Calcutta to follow at 7:00 P.M.
Headquarters All boats must leave and return to the Platte Creek Boat Ramp. Plate Creek Area will serve as the launching and loading headquarters. The weigh-in will be in the Platte Creek Store Patio.
Fishing Boundaries Lake Francis Case. Elm Creek (North Boundary) to Pease Creek (South Boundary).
Fishing Hours Fishing hours are 7:00 A.M. CST TO 2:00 P.M. CST. Early weigh in starts at 12:00 p.m. and you must be inside the buoys by 2:00 P.M. Every boat must check in even if you are NOT going to weigh any fish. We need to have accountability of every boat. Contact numbers are at the bottom of the rules page.
Late Contestants who return later than scheduled time will be disqualified.
Inspections Boats will be inspected before and during the tournament. We will check all live wells prior to unloading. We will have patrol boats in the area.
Licenses S.D. fishing license is required by all team members. Boat license must be current at tournament time. State Park entrance passes are required on all vehicles.
General All rulings by the tournament board are final. The tournament board reserves the right to refuse any entry.
Tournament Winners Winners will be based on most weight of seven (7) fish. You are allowed only two (2) fish over 20” and none under 15”. Anything under 15” will result in disqualification per team. You are allowed to have a limit of legal walleye in your live well, but will still only be allowed to weigh 7 fish per the requirements listed above.
Payout 75% of total entry funds and calcutta.
Ties In the event of a tie, the tie will be resolved by combining the places tied and splitting the winnings. (Example: if 3 teams tie for 4th place, prize money for 4th, 5th and 6th would be combined and split between those in the tie”. Ties for the largest walleye and the Calcutta will also be split.
Prizes If you are present at the weigh in, checks will be given after all teams have checked in and winners announced. If not present, prize money and Calcutta money will be sent via US Mail the week following the tournament.
Boat Numbers All boats will be required to have numbers visible on windshield during tournament hours.
Leaving All boats must pass between the South shore and the Southern most “No Wake” buoy. Show your boat number to the official on the shore.
Tournament committee reserves the right to make changes if circumstances dictate. We will honor the American Flag and our Great Country with the National Anthem prior to the 7am start. Expected time will be 6:55am to allow contestants time to line up for departure. We do ask that all contestants follow the suggested requirements for honoring our Flag. Stand up, remove any headgear, place your right hand over your heart, Veterans or Active Duty NOT in uniform may salute the Flag. (With safety in mind. Don’t run into another boat!)
FROM THE TSMFT BOARD We want to Thank You for fishing our annual tournament. Safety is always #1, but FUN is the one other thing we do require. Terry loved having fun, ask anyone that knew him, so Please have fun and enjoy what God has given us out here. We always find ways to improve our tournament and please contact one of the board members for any suggestions. Finding a great organization to donate is easy, choosing the right one is the struggle.
